Our research found that families in Leeds had insufficient support following the sudden death of a child.  We are calling on the Government  to step up and #supporteveryfamily through the loss of a child.

 

We found that:

 

• Only 16% of professionals in Leeds think that child bereavement support is

currently effective

 

• 100% of the families who had contacted the counselling service found it

unsuitable due to long waiting times or lack of child bereavement experience

 

• Over 50% of professionals said they did not know who coordinated child

bereavement services in Leeds and 45% saw the need for a single

organisation to coordinate it
